Kazoku no Uta

It's been a while since I last posted reviews on dramas, right?

Kazoku no Uta. I have finished watching this drama last month. The reason why I started watching this drama was because I know Sexy Zone's Nakajima Kento played a role in it. But after watching the first episode, I really fell in love with the plot. It's really a nice story and it is one of my favorite family drama now.

"Kazoku no Uta" means Family Song in English. Now, let me start by telling the plot. The main guy in this drama was Hayakawa Seigi, a former vocalist of a popular rock band that got disbanded when Seigi suddenly announced that he wanted to continue his career as a solo rock artist. However, everything went wrong when his solo songs wasn't accepted by the public. He constantly losing fans and in fifteen years, he already got forgotten by everyone. Seigi was lucky since he has a loyal manager, Kousuke Miki, who was always there for him, trying his best to look for any chances for Seigi to release new CDs so that Seigi could again become famous like he was before. However, Seigi was really a stubborn guy and refused to change his style of music that was already outdated nowadays. With that outdated music, chance for him to succeed in music industry again was not more than 5%.

One day, Seigi was approached by two kids. A girl and a boy. The girl introduced herself as Seigi's daughter and called him 'father'. She claimed that she was the daughter of the woman that Seigi slept with when he was still a famous star while the boy was her little brother from the same mother but different father. Their mother had just recently died and they got nowhere to go. Seigi didn't believe the girl and thought that the girl was only trying to deceive him so he ran away from the two kids. But, the young girl and her brother managed to follow him until they arrived at his house. Seigi was reluctant at first but he still took them in after a few failed attempts of throwing them away. Few days (or weeks) later, the door of Seigi's house was knocked and when he opened the door, a young middle school girl and an old man were standing there. Another shocking news for Seigi when the young middle school girl also claimed that Seigi was her father. The real story started here when the hot tempered, immature, harsh, stubborn Seigi had to live with the three children as their father.

Living together under the same roof, Seigi and the three kids faced a lot of challenges. Seigi never liked kids but now he had to live with THREE of them (which one of them wasn't even have any blood related with him). He always found them annoying, troublesome kids and he didn't admit himself as their father. He still couldn't believe the fact that he actually got two daughters. They always got into fights with each other, Seigi and the kids. However, as they continued to live together while facing a lot of challenges, a special bond starting to form between them. Seigi became more tolerant with the kids and his immature side slowly disappearing as he started to consider himself as responsible and he became more like a father. Day by day, because of the three kids, he learnt a lot of things and the kids also at the same time learnt a lot of things from Seigi.

For me, this kind of dramatic (plus comedy) family drama is really a good choice to watch! Kazoku no Uta taught me a lot of things about the importance of family. I learnt a lot! This drama contains humorous elements so it is suitable to watch with family. The casts are also very professional and they managed to play the role they are given very well! The messages of the story were delivered perfectly. And when you watch the drama, you'd feel the warmth of the family. There are so many funny and even touching scenes.

The drama ended at episode 8 even though it was supposed to end at episode 10. The total of the episodes was reduced due to the low ratings the drama received every episodes. I really don't understand why such a great drama got a very low ratings. I made a research about it and found out that before this drama was aired it was accused for plagiarism. The plot was said to extremely similar to the story line of an old drama series called "Papa wa Newscaster". I don't know how true this is. I never watched "Papa wa Newscaster" before. HOWEVER, in my opinion, that shouldn't become a reason for not watching "Kazoku no Uta" ! Okay, maybe the story line was similar but they are still two different dramas. Kazoku no Uta is highly recommended! Please do watch if you have some free time <3
